100WF London Gala to Benefit Maths4Girls by Founders4Schools in association with 100 Women in Finance
12 February 2020
The beneficiary of 100WF’s UK philanthropic initiatives this year is Founders4Schools (F4S) and specifically the Maths4Girls programme.
Through the Maths4Girls programme, female role models from the financial services industry will speak with girls ages 11-14 in their classrooms about their careers and the importance of maths for work and as a life skill. Maths4Girls’ aim is to encourage girls to consider careers in the finance industry by making them aware of the varied opportunities and encouraging them to take maths to A’level and beyond so that these opportunities are options.
Recent articles in The Financial Times and the BBC highlight the incredible need for careers guidance by female role models to inspire girls to consider different careers. Supporting Maths4Girls could make a real difference to the number of girls pursuing advanced-level maths and entering the finance industry, and in doing so, diversifying and strengthening the talent pipeline for future leadership in our industry.
At the London Gala we also highlight female leaders in the financial industry through the 100WF EMEA Industry Leadership Award. Supporting the London Gala sends a strong signal that you value and support diversity in the industry. It also demonstrates your commitment to philanthropy and has a direct beneficial impact on girls’ educational outcomes and our industry.

Founders4Schools and Maths4Girls
Founders4Schools is an award winning charity. Its mission is to inspire students, particularly in disadvantaged schools, and to prepare them for the world of work, by connecting them with professionals from successful companies in their community and giving the young people a chance to develop social, employment and life skills regardless of their parental networks or school resources.
Maths4Girls, a F4S’s programme in association with 100 Women in Finance, seeks to encourage girls to consider a career in the finance industry and to continue with maths at school to A’level so that a career in the industry is an option. Maths4Girls will connect educators with female professionals from the finance industry who will speak to girls in the classroom about their careers as well as the importance of maths for work and as a life skill. Maths4Girls role models from 100WF’s membership will show a generation that girls’ success in advanced maths is possible, creating a larger pool of qualified female candidates for careers in the finance industry and other sectors where maths skills are required.
Register here to be a Maths4Girls speaker. Volunteers are asked to commit to two school visits per year (visits take place during the school day).
