Anjia Delapenha
Student
Anjia Delapenha is a dedicated full-time student at Bayes Business School, City University of London, where she is pursuing a major in Accounting and Finance. Hailing from the Cayman Islands, Anjia stands out as a recipient of the prestigious 2023 KPMG Scholarship – which she was introduced to by Cayman committee member Lara Deysel. This opportunity offers an annual scholarship of $30,000 throughout Anjia’s undergraduate degree program, provided that she maintains a minimum grade criteria of 3.0 GPA (or better) on a 4.0 scale. Beyond her academic pursuits, she also proudly represents her home country in international volleyball tournaments, including prestigious events such as the Commonwealth Youth Games and Under 21 World Championships.
Anjia’s journey with 100 Women in Finance (100WF) began in 2019 through her involvement in the GirlForce100 program. This initiative, a strategic collaboration between 100WF and the Cayman Islands Ministry of Education, pairs local 100WF members as mentors to students displaying a keen interest in finance careers.
Since her introduction to 100WF, Anjia has actively engaged in a myriad of networking events, educational programs, and mentorship opportunities provided by the organization. These include attending the First Impressions Dinner with the Duchess of Edinburgh, participating in the annual GirlForce100 Tea Party, and representing 100WF during local school visits and Youth Success Conferences. These experiences have not only expanded her knowledge but have also cultivated invaluable industry connections. Additionally, the exposure and experiences have played a crucial role in helping her develop exceptional leadership skills and gain valuable experiences through internships. Recognizing her commitment, Anjia was invited in September 2023 to join 100WF’s Student Steering Committee – a global group of students that provides input on 100WF’s pre-career initiatives.
Looking ahead, Anjia’s future plans align with 100WF’s mission to champion diversity and inclusion within the finance sector. She is excited to play a pivotal role in advocating and empowering the next generation of young women entering the industry through her active membership and volunteerism with 100WF.
