On 1 September, 100 Women in Finance (100WF) and 100 Women in FinTech (100WIFinTech) members and guests came together at the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) in London to explore the latest developments in retail investing under the theme “Redefining Retail Investing: The Tech Revolution.”
The panel featured Andrew Bresler, Saxo UK, Devika Mathur, BlackRock, Stacey Parsons, RetailBook and Abhay Pradham, LSEG, and was moderated by Lauren Crawley-Moore from LSEG and the LSEGWin committee (LSEG Women Network).
The conversation examined the key shifts shaping retail investing in Europe, from the rise of new platforms and data-driven insights to the impact of evolving regulation. Panellists highlighted how data analytics and AI are transforming the investor experience, driving personalisation, transparency, and education. They also reflected on the constructive role of regulation in the UK and Europe in supporting innovation while ensuring investor protection.
A key theme was the democratisation of retail investing with investors today having unprecedented access to information and markets. Thee panel agreed however that more needs to be done to foster inclusivity, particularly in encouraging greater participation by women and historically underrepresented groups.
Looking ahead, the panellists pointed to the opportunities offered by emerging technologies such as tokenisation, robo-advisors, and AI-enabled platforms to further expand access and increase confidence among retail investors.
