100 Women in Finance Selects Goldman Sachs Partner Stephanie Hui for its 2017 Asia Industry Leadership Award; High Demand Shifts Gala Dinner to Larger Venue

100 Women in Finance (‘100WF’) today announced that Ms. Stephanie Hui, head of merchant banking at Goldman Sachs in Asia Pacific ex-Japan, will receive this year’s Asia Industry Leadership Award at the 100WF Hong Kong Gala on November 16, 2017.

100WF also announced that, in order to satisfy strong demand from industry practitioners, the Gala dinner will be moved to the Connaught Room of the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Central, Hong Kong.

Ms. Hui runs Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking Division in Asia Pacific Ex-Japan, which invests in corporate equity and real estate equity in the region. Notable investments under her leadership span many countries and sectors, including Chinese healthcare companies Shenzhen Hepalink, iKang, and Gan & Lee; Chinese logistics company Best; Korea’s largest industrial gas producer Daesung Industrial Gas; Korean food-delivery company Woowa Brothers; Australia’s leading healthcare company Icon Cancer Care. She was also instrumental in Goldman Sachs’ investment in Chinese bank ICBC in 2006. Ms. Hui joined Goldman Sachs in 1995 and became a partner in 2010.

Ms. Hui serves on the Investment Committee of Hony Capital Fund III and Hony Capital Fund 2008. She is also a member of the Board of Governors of the China Venture Capital and Private Equity Association, the Board of Directors of Save the Children Hong Kong and Honorary Trustees of The Women’s Foundation. Ms. Hui earned an AB in Biology, summa cum laude, from Harvard College in 1995 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 2000. She is also a mother of three boys.

Ms. Ng’s co-chair, Katarina Royds, head of global business development at Ascalon Capital Managers (Asia) Limited, added, “The Asia Industry Leadership Award is 100WF’s highest acknowledgment of senior women in the region who demonstrate professional excellence and community engagement to inspire the next generation.”

100WF’s 2017 North American and European Industry Leadership Awards honorees are Ms. Paula Volent, chief investment officer of Bowdoin College (USA), and Ms. Deborah Fuhr, managing partner and co-founder of ETFGI LLP, respectively. Last year’s Asia Industry Leadership Award recipient was Ms. Clara Chan, Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s head of direct investment.

100 Women in Finance is a global network of professionals in the finance and alternative investment industries working together to empower women at every stage of their careers. Through peer engagement, philanthropic, and educational initiatives, its more than 15,000 members are making connections and creating opportunities that help to advance careers and strengthen their field. The beneficiary of 100WF’s Hong Kong Gala is The Karen Leung Foundation. Net Gala proceeds are designated for cancer screening and HPV vaccination programs for Hong Kong girls and young women.
