Oct 12, 2026

In our Mentor and Mentee Features series, we highlight a mentor and mentee partnership from our LaunchMe program and learn why thy took part and what they gained from the process. This time we speak to Yashaswi Vig (Mentee) and Laureen Sulpice (Mentor) from our LaunchMe 2026 cohort.

Yashaswi Vig (Mentee)
Graduate Entry LLB at Brunel University of London

I am a soon‑to‑be law graduate with a prior degree in Finance and over four years of practical experience in compliance and risk management within capital markets, alongside legal experience gained in law firms. I am excited to leverage my financial background alongside my legal education to build a career in the funds space, where regulatory insight and investment strategy intersect.

Why did you join LaunchMe?

I joined LaunchMe because I was actively seeking a mentor who closely aligns with my career trajectory someone with a strong background in both law and finance, ideally within the funds space. Finding a mentor who understands my professional goals and has navigated a similar path has been incredibly valuable, and I am grateful to have found that alignment through this program.

What has been your favourite part of the mentorship program?

My favourite part of the mentorship experience has been the consistent guidance and support I receive. Having a mentor who is genuinely aligned with my ambitions and invested in my development has given me clarity, confidence, and direction as I pursue the next steps in my career.

What’s one goal where you’ve seen the most impact and what have you learned from your mentor?

One goal where I have seen the most impact is gaining a clearer understanding of what it is like to work as a funds lawyer and aligning my CV with the expectations of the role. Through my mentor’s insight and guidance, I have learned that there are roles where funds lawyers play a more supportive function, as well as roles where they contribute actively to decision‑making around fund strategy.

What I have learned most from my mentor is how to position my background strategically leveraging my experience in law, compliance, and finance to present a coherent narrative that aligns with funds‑focused legal roles. This has not only strengthened my CV but also given me greater clarity and confidence in pursuing this career path.

Laureen Sulpice (Mentor)
Senior Legal Counsel

I am a senior lawyer with more than 20 years of experience in the asset management sector with strong international exposure. What drives me is really enabling the business to take risk intelligently, using legal structuring not as a constraint, but as a tool to unlock opportunities while staying within a robust framework. I like being where the legal detail actually matters, where a clause, a structure, or a regulatory interpretation can materially change the economics of a trade.

What drew you to mentor in LaunchMe and what’s been rewarding about the experience?

I held a Director Assistant GC role in my last employment and I guided few younger colleagues in their professional path, listening and advising them on the best way to approach certain situations. I decided to share and concretise this experience through LaunchMe. What’s been most rewarding is those moments where I could see my mentee was becoming more confident in her own choices and decisions. It’s not about giving answers, it’s about helping them realise they already have them.

How has the relationship inspired or influenced you and what is one thing you’ve learned from your mentee.

It really gave me a fresh perspective and I’ve learned that clarity and conviction can be incredibly powerful, my mentee knows what she wants and goes for it!

Any tips or encouragement for those entering the industry?
