Cambridge Investment Management’s Tilly Franklin Named Recipient of 100 Women in Finance’s 2021 EMEA Industry Leadership Award

London – 28 July 2021 – 100 Women in Finance (100WF), a global finance industry organization, announced today that Tilly Franklin will be presented with the 100 Women in Finance 2021 EMEA Industry Leadership Award at the organisation’s annual London Gala on October 5, 2021, to be held virtually this year.

Ms. Franklin is CEO and Chief Investment Officer at Cambridge Investment Management Limited, the manager of the Cambridge University Endowment Fund. She is a Founder of GAIN (Girls Are Investors), a charity which aims to inform and inspire the next generation of female investment managers in the UK.

Each year, 100WF identifies a woman whose professional talent, business ethics and passion for investing help define and advance the industry’s standards of excellence. In 2021, 100WF’s fundraising theme is Investing in the Next Generation and accordingly, in identifying its honouree, the organization additionally emphasized the inspiration she would offer to the younger generation of female investment professionals.

100WF CEO Amanda Pullinger stated, “Tilly Franklin has embodied the goals of equity and inclusion in her advocacy for the education of young women to prepare for careers and enter the financial services industry. As someone who is keenly aware of the importance of role models, Tilly is a strong leader who has built a diverse team in her leadership at The University of Cambridge’s endowment office, consistent with both her principles and the mission of 100 Women in Finance.”

Prior to joining Cambridge University in January 2020, Ms. Franklin served as Director of Investments and Head of Private Equity at Alta Advisers, one of Europe’s leading single family investment offices. An alumna of Jesus College, Cambridge, she was also a Principal at private equity firm Apax Partners Ltd, where she led a number of successful leveraged buyout transactions during her eight-year tenure. Earlier in her career, she also held positions at BBC Worldwide Ltd, Virgin Management Ltd and McKinsey & Company. Ms. Franklin is a Trustee of the Kennedy Memorial Trust. a Fellow of the 2017 class of the Finance Leaders Fellowship at the Aspen Institute, and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Ms. Franklin holds a first class degree from Cambridge University in English Literature and an MBA from London Business School, and was a Kennedy Scholar at Harvard’s Graduate School of Arts and Sciences.
