Wellington Management’s Jean M. Hynes Named Recipient of 100 Women in Finance’s 2021 North American Industry Leadership Award

New York, NY – July 20, 2021 – 100 Women in Finance (100WF), a global finance industry organization, announced today that Jean M. Hynes, CFA will be presented with the 100 Women in Finance 2021 North American Industry Leadership Award at the organization’s annual New York Gala on November 10, 2021 at Cipriani 42nd Street.

Ms. Hynes is Chief Executive Officer, Managing Partner and Portfolio Manager at Wellington Management. She is one of the firm’s three managing partners, who are responsible for governance of the Wellington Management partnership, and she is the portfolio manager of the Vanguard Healthcare Fund, the largest fund led by a woman.

Each year, 100WF identifies a woman whose professional talent, business ethics and passion for investing help define and advance the industry’s standards of excellence. In 2021, 100WF’s fundraising theme is Investing in the Next Generation and accordingly, in identifying its honoree, the organization additionally emphasized the inspiration she would offer to the younger generation of female investment professionals.

100WF CEO Amanda Pullinger stated, “It is fitting that we honor Jean in the year she becomes CEO of Wellington Management. Jean has long been an advocate for women advancing in their careers by focusing on attracting and retaining diverse talent. Ms. Hynes has served for more than 30 years at Wellington in diverse roles. She has been a member of Wellington’s Global Industry Research Group and previously has had a number of responsibilities including researching the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, serving as a health care portfolio manager for a number of long and long/short strategies, and leading the Health Care Sector Research Team.

Ms. Hynes graduated from Wellesley College (1991), where she was awarded a BA in economics. Additionally, she holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society Boston. Ms. Hynes is also a member of the Investment Committee at Wellesley College.
