The Cayman Islands 100 Women mid-career group and PWC Cayman were delighted to host an engaging breakfast event Breaking the Code: A Journey in Tech and Finance with Isabel Gumeyi on 9th June.
Isabel shared her remarkable journey from growing up in Zimbabwe during a period of hyperinflation to building a successful career spanning both technology and finance. Her story was not only inspiring but also offered valuable insights into the mindset and principles that have guided her success.
A key theme throughout the discussion was the importance of living and working with purpose. Isabel challenged attendees to consider how they can make a meaningful impact within their chosen fields and reminded us that growth is often shaped by resilience and the lessons learned through adversity. One observation that particularly resonated with me was her advice not to make permanent decisions based on temporary emotions.
She also spoke about the value of consistency and perseverance, noting that progress often occurs long before results become visible. Opportunities that may appear insignificant today can ultimately become defining moments in a career. Above all, she emphasized the importance of remaining authentic and staying true to one’s values rather than simply pursuing the next opportunity.
Our sincere thanks to Isabel, PwC, 100 Women in Finance, and Tarryn Gillett of PWC for bringing together such an engaging and thought-provoking event. The Cayman Mid-Career Committee continues to create meaningful opportunities for professionals to connect, learn from accomplished leaders, and invest in their ongoing personal and professional development.
