LaunchMe Spotlight: Yashaswi Vig + Laureen Sulpice

When Yashaswi Vig joined the LaunchMe mentorship program through 100 Women in Finance, she was looking for something very specific: guidance from someone who truly understood the intersection of law and finance.

A soon to be law graduate at Brunel University of London with a prior degree in Finance, Yashaswi already had more than four years of experience in compliance and risk management within capital markets, alongside legal experience gained through law firms. She knew she wanted to build a career in the funds space, where legal strategy, regulation, and investment management converge. What she did not yet have was clarity on how to position that unique background for the next stage of her career.

That changed through her mentorship with Laureen Sulpice.

Laureen, a Senior Legal Counsel with more than 20 years of experience in the asset management industry, immediately understood the path Yashaswi hoped to pursue. With extensive international experience and deep expertise across legal structuring and investment strategy, Laureen brought both technical insight and practical career guidance to the relationship.

“I joined LaunchMe because I was actively seeking a mentor who closely aligns with my career trajectory,” Yashaswi shared. “Finding a mentor who understands my professional goals and has navigated a similar path has been incredibly valuable.”

Through their conversations, the mentorship quickly evolved beyond general career advice. Together, they focused on helping Yashaswi better understand the realities of working as a funds lawyer, the different types of roles available within the industry, and how to strategically position her background in law, compliance, and finance into a cohesive professional narrative.

“One goal where I have seen the most impact is gaining a clearer understanding of what it is like to work as a funds lawyer and aligning my CV with the expectations of the role,” Yashaswi explained. “This has not only strengthened my CV but also given me greater clarity and confidence in pursuing this career path.”

For Laureen, mentorship through LaunchMe felt like a natural extension of the guidance she had provided to younger professionals throughout her career. Having previously held a Director Assistant General Counsel role, she understood how meaningful mentorship could be during pivotal career moments.

“What’s been most rewarding is seeing those moments where my mentee becomes more confident in her own choices and decisions,” Laureen shared. “It’s not about giving answers. It’s about helping them realise they already have them.”

The relationship also offered Laureen a fresh perspective.

“It gave me a reminder that clarity and conviction can be incredibly powerful,” she said. “My mentee knows what she wants and goes for it.”

At the heart of the mentorship was alignment: two women with overlapping experiences, shared professional interests, and a mutual understanding of how legal and financial expertise can work together within the investment industry.

For Yashaswi, the experience reinforced the importance of finding mentors who not only offer advice, but who genuinely understand the path you are trying to build.

For Laureen, it reinforced why programs like LaunchMe matter.

“Believe in yourself, in your strengths, and in your values.”
