From Doubt to Direction: Building Your Career Support Network

Jul 9, 2026

On July 9th, members of the Toronto finance community gathered for “From Doubt to Direction: Building Your Career Support Network,” an insightful discussion exploring how mentorship, sponsorship, and advocacy accelerate career growth. Hosted by RBC Capital Markets at their Toronto office, the event was a collaboration between RBC Capital Markets RWomen and 100 Women in Finance Toronto’s Early Career chapter.

Panelists shared their perspectives on turning self-doubt into momentum, the distinct roles mentors, advocates and sponsors play, and the value of building visibility with intention. Attendees learned practical strategies to identify supporters, build their networks, and create new opportunities. After the session, attendees had the opportunity to network with industry peers over refreshments.

The panel featured Derek Flood (Managing Director, Global Head of Cash Equities and Research, RBC Capital Markets), Tina Murrin (Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Purolator Inc.), Alessandra Fazio (Research Analyst, Canso Investment Counsel and Co-Chair, 100WF Toronto Early Career Chapter), and was moderated by Kaitlin Sutherland (Director, Mergers and Acquisitions, Global Investment Banking, RBC Capital Markets and Co-Chair of RBCCM RWomen).

Thank you to RBC Capital Markets and RWomen for their sponsorship, collaboration and shared commitment to advancing women in finance. Thank you to our panelists and moderator for sharing their insights, and to everyone who joined us for an engaging discussion on building the support networks that power career growth.
