Inspiring the Next Generation: 100WF Dublin Early Career University Outreach

Jun 15, 2026

April 2026 – SEI Investments (Europe) Limited and Maynooth University

The Dublin Early Career Committee of 100 Women in Finance (100WF) continues to play a pivotal role in running a range of initiatives aligned to our mission of advancing gender equity within the financial services industry. In Dublin, the Early Career Committee has taken a particularly hands on approach, partnering with third level institutions and leading firms to bring university students into the workplace through on site insight sessions, and the results speak for themselves.

At their core, these visits are designed to help demystify the investment industry, make finance careers feel more accessible, and showcase the breadth of roles available, particularly those where women remain underrepresented.

Over the past three years, the programme has gone from strength to strength. What began as a single event has grown into a thriving calendar of visits, offering students valuable first hand exposure to careers in finance while connecting them with professionals across a range of disciplines.

A Growing Programme of Collaboration

Since March 2023, the 100 Women in Finance Early Career Committee has hosted a series of successful student outreach events, each one building on the last:

  1. March 2023 – Amundi Ireland Limited and Trinity College Dublin
  2. October 2023 – Mediolanum International Funds Limited and Maynooth University
  3. November 2023 – Northern Trust Corporation and University of Limerick
  4. November 2023 – Amundi Ireland Limited and University College Dublin
  5. November 2024 – Mediolanum International Funds Limited and Dublin City University
  6. November 2024 – KBI Global Investors Limited and Dublin City University
  7. April 2025 – Goodbody and Trinity College Dublin
  8. April 2025 – Amundi Ireland Limited and Maynooth University
  9. September 2025 – KKR & Co. Incorporated and Dublin City University
  10. February 2026 – Mediolanum International Funds Limited and Trinity College Dublin
  11. April 2026 – SEI Investments (Europe) Limited and Maynooth University

Each event brought students directly into the workplace, offering a unique opportunity to engage with firms in an interactive and practical setting. Together, they reflect the dedication and energy of the Committee and its partners in making these experiences possible.

The programme’s first event took place in March 2023, when Amundi Ireland Limited welcomed female students from Trinity College Dublin studying Finance and STEM related degrees. The students had the opportunity to engage with Amundi’s investment managers, analysts and traders to learn more about the industry and the many avenues into it. This inaugural career in investments workshop set the tone for everything that followed.

Building on this foundation, the February 2026 event with Mediolanum International Funds Ltd saw Trinity College Dublin students welcomed to the firm’s offices in the IFSC. Students gained insight into the investment industry, explored potential career paths, and heard directly from professionals about their experiences and day to day roles.

Most recently, in April 2026, SEI Investments (Europe) Ltd hosted students from Maynooth University, continuing the strong tradition of firm university partnerships and providing further opportunities for students to engage with industry leaders. The visit also included a talk from SEI’s CEO, Jenny McElvaney, giving students a senior leadership perspective on the firm, the sector, and the skills that matter early in a career.

Bridging Education and Industry

So what makes these onsite visits so effective? They are designed to provide more than just information, they offer meaningful, lasting engagement. Students benefit from:

  1. Real world insights into financial services roles
  2. Access to role models and mentors, particularly women in the industry
  3. Networking opportunities that support early career development, graduate applications, and confidence building
  4. Exposure to workplace environments, from trading floors to investment teams
  5. Beyond the student experience, the initiative also supports participating firms by strengthening their engagement with emerging talent and showcasing their commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Why These Visits Matter

University outreach an impactful way 100WF can support its mission. By reaching students early in their academic journey, the programme helps to broaden perceptions of finance and inspire more women to consider careers in the sector, particularly in areas where they remain underrepresented. Every visit, every conversation, and every connection made contributes to this goal.

What is especially encouraging is the growing appetite from both universities and industry partners, which reflects a shared commitment to building a more inclusive and diverse financial services pipeline in Ireland.

Equally important, feedback consistently highlights the tangible impact of meeting professionals directly. Many students report increased confidence, clarity, and motivation to pursue careers in finance following their attendance, a powerful reminder of why this work matters.

How a 100WF Student Visit Helped Shape Sophie’s Career

To bring the impact of these visits to life, we spoke with Sophie Tynan, who attended a 100WF student visit on 25 October 2023 while studying Quantitative Finance at Maynooth University. Sophie joined Mediolanum in September 2024 as a Financial Risk Intern, was kept on after four months, and has since been working as an Associate Analyst on the Operational Risk team since January 2025.

“It was really valuable to hear first hand experiences from women working within both the company and the wider industry. It gave me a much better understanding of what it’s actually like to work in finance… That made a strong impression on me and definitely influenced my decision to apply.”

Sophie’s experience is a powerful example of how 100WF student visits can spark interest, build confidence, and encourage the next generation to see a future for themselves in finance.
