Sheri Yamasaki
Director of Human Resources, Hotchkis & Wiley

Sheri Yamasaki has been instrumental in the expansion of the 100 Women in Finance Global LaunchMe Mentorship Program.  In the first year of the program, Sheri was a mentor and an active participant in our group discussions, emphasizing courage when advocating for one’s career development. This year, as a member of the Professional Committee, Sheri demonstrates empathy as she provides guidance to mentors and mentees who are implementing a customized plan for networking, building skills and developing business acumen.

Sheri is head of human resources for Hotchkis & Wiley, an institutional asset management firm overseeing U.S. and global value equity and high yield portfolios for clients worldwide.

Sheri is actively involved with 100 Women in Finance (100WF), currently serving a term on the Professional Committee for 100WF’s LaunchMe Mentorship Program. Sheri also participated as a panelist speaker for JumpStart, a program that provides college-age students with an introduction to the financial services industry.

In addition to 100WF, Sheri serves on the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the Investment Company Institute (ICI) and helps drive Hotchkis & Wiley’s signatory commitment for CEO Action for Diversity and Inclusion.

Sheri also serves as a mentor through Women in Institutional Investments Network (WIIIN), a Los Angeles based forum seeking to advance and empower women in the Southern California institutional investment community.

Prior to joining Hotchkis & Wiley, Sheri was Human Resources (HR) Manager for a quantitative investment firm.  She began her career in management roles for Marriott International and then as HR and Career Development for the Los Angeles office of Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

Over the course of her HR career, Sheri has not seen such momentum in advancing diversity and acceptance in the workplace and is energized to help make 100WF’s vision 30/40 a reality, where women occupy 30% of senior investment roles and executive committee positions by 2040.
