In our Mentor and Mentee Features series, we highlight a mentor and mentee partnership from our LaunchMe program and learn why thy took part and what they gained from the process. This time we speak to Cynthia DiNapoli (Mentee) and Vina Reddy (Mentor) from our LaunchMe 2026 cohort.
Cynthia DiNapoli (Mentee)
Sophomore at Fairleigh Dickinson University
I am an Honors Finance student at Fairleigh Dickinson University with a diverse academic background including minors in Studio Arts and Psychology. Professionally, I have gained experience in wealth management at Morgan Stanley and financial reporting at Crum & Forster. I am particularly intrested in the intersection of analytical finance and creative strategy, a passion I explore as the Head of Marketing for FDU’s Student Managed Investment Fund, where I bridge the gap between complex investment data and compelling storytelling.
Why did you join LaunchMe?
I joined LaunchMe to connect with and learn from established professionals in the financial industry through 100 Women in Finance.
What has been your favourite part of the mentorship program?
My favorite part of the program has been the opportunity to gain a real perspective on the fundamentals of the industry, moving beyond the classroom to understand a new side of finance through direct mentorship.
What’s one goal where you’ve seen the most impact and what have you learned from your mentor?
The most significant impact has been in refining my professional narrative and confidence. Through Vina’s guidance, I have learned that success in finance is built as much on resilient relationships and consistency as it is on technical returns. This insight has helped me better navigate my roles in my current internship by focusing on continuous learning and proactive communication.
Vina Reddy (Mentor)
Vice President at BlackRock
I am a member of the Americas Client Business Core COO team focused on business process, policy, and risk management including oversight of sales and operational activities, business and expense management, and various strategic initiatives. I started my career in Corporate Finance which was important in understanding the firm’s foundation and gaining institutional knowledge. I’m involved in our firms Global Women’s Initiative Network and passionate about giving back and professional development.
What drew you to mentor in LaunchMe and what’s been rewarding about the experience?
I was eager to get involved as a mentor in LaunchMe because I have personally benefitted from mentorship through my college and professional career and love to pay it forward. Even now as I continue to grow, there are so many things I wish I knew. I believe we all have a role to play, and I enjoy giving back to future generations. One of the most rewarding aspects is how refreshing it is to feel the energy and passion from ambitious students who are eager to learn. I often end up learning something and it’s so powerful to gain perspective together.
How has the relationship inspired or influenced you and what is one thing you’ve learned from your mentee.
The relationship has inspired me in many ways and one of the things I’ve learned from my mentee is how valuable current experiences can be in future growth – no matter how big or small. I’ve admired her engagement as a mentee while also being dedicated to her schoolwork, internships, extracurricular and passions. Her open mind is a good reminder that you can always build or pivot as along as you stay true to yourself.
Any tips or encouragement for those entering the industry?
To those entering the industry, never forget authenticity matters, showing up is important, and growth can feel uncomfortable but it is always worth it!
