As part of 100WF’s Impact pillar, volunteers and staff aim to reach, inspire, and support young women at the high school, undergraduate, and graduate school levels who will be part of the talent pipeline for future industry leadership. Our student and professional members engage with students through 100WF’s signature JumpStart and LaunchMe programs as well as university presentations, corporate site visits, and First Impressions Dinners.

In late October, Emory University’s Goizueta Business School’s (GBS) inaugural Master of Analytical Finance (MAF) class traveled to New York City to connect and create synergies with several financial firms and 100WF members. These financial institutions included the following: PwC, Moore Capital Management, Bloomberg LP, BlackRock, Junto Capital Management LP, Credit Suisse, and Palladium Equity Partners LLC. Dr. Kirsten Travers-UyHam, Academic Director of the MAF program and Professor of the Practice of Finance at Emory, Managing Partner of River Cam Partners LLP, member of the 100WF Fund Women directory, and 100WF Global Angel, organized this practicum trip with the assistance of her Emory colleagues and 100WF Chief Impact Officer Chaitali Patel. During the two-day trip, students were introduced to various facets of and opportunities available in the financial industry. The diverse speaker panel shared personal anecdotes relating to the twists and turns in their career. Throughout the experience, students had opportunities to ask questions and network with panel participants, which allowed them to make personal connections and visualize their placement in the industry.

Dr. Travers-UyHam expressed, “It was such a unique opportunity to give our students a behind-the-scenes look at how business is done in the financial capital of the world.”

“Sitting atop NYC skyscrapers and having conversations with senior analysts and managing directors felt nothing short of a dream!” Emory University GBS MAF student Jala Hawkins declared in a LinkedIn post. “Their transparency and trajectory have certainly inspired me. I am eager at the opportunity to extend my hands to others to provide guidance, strength, and direction to those that may come behind me.”
