On September 12, 2023, 100 Women in Finance’s Paris committee organized an engaging discussion: “Headwinds for Investors Anticipating ESG Regulations in the EU and UK,” hosted by Simmons & Simmons. The event provided a platform for a deep dive into the challenges financial market players grapple with to meet reporting, marketing, labeling and other disclosure requirements.
France Vassaux of Simmons & Simmons outlined the EU and UK regulatory framework whilst Elisabeth Gambert of Afep (French industry body for French multinationals) represented the views of French corporates and highlighted the international sustainability standards as a starting point to develop a coherent approach across multiple jurisdictions. Viet-Linh Nguyen, Head of the Strategy and Sustainable Finance Unit at the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) – France explained the market regulator’s priorities to promote more sustainable finance and took head-on some of the market players’ feedback and challenges. Somesha Ferdinand, Principal at FLG and 100WF Paris committee member moderated the discussion.
